Jane Mossa

Director of Continuing Education

Jane has taught privately as a yoga therapist for 20 years. She holds certifications from Lex Gillan at the Yoga Institute of Houston and from Eric Shiffmann and Rodney Yee’s advanced teacher workshops at Kripalu. She also studied Iyengar practice and theory with Mary Sinclair for more than a decade. She received her Pilates mat certification from the Physical Mind Institute and studied Anatomy and Kinesiology, with certification, at the Laban Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in New York. She was introduced to the Lotte Berk Method in 1991 by Burr Leonard and Carl Diehl and later taught in their Connecticut studios in Greenwich and New Canaan. Jane’s teaching style reflects her deep technical background and combines a focus on individual correction with a simplified, hands-on approach to teaching. Jane’s background and passion for learning reflect her belief in the effectiveness of teaching minimal, precise movements that challenge clients while building the confidence, strength and flexibility that is fundamental to overall health and well-being.

As Continuing Education Director, Jane works with Christina to support the ongoing professional growth of the Figure Method’s programs and instructors. She researches and evaluates information and resources that enable the Figure Method to remain current with the latest developments in the field while staying true to the foundations of a traditional barre fitness program. Jane works closely with experts in the fields of kinesiology, dance, therapeutic health, physical therapy and mind-body connection to share knowledge, conduct seminars and bring guests into the studios. Her goal is to promote a learning environment for instructors that underlines the safest and most effective ways of working the body, while creating fun, interactive and supportive classes.
